Marathon · One Brain Score, three skills

Marathon: three games, one Brain Score

Misfire, Swarm and Glow Grid, back to back in one sitting. No lives — a mistake costs points, not the run — so every session ends the same way: one number that says how sharp you were today.

Brain Score

Three skills, one sitting

Marathon runs Misfire, Swarm and Glow Grid back to back with no menu in between. Misfire and Swarm each run 60 seconds, Glow Grid runs 8 rounds, and the three leg scores add together into one Brain Score.

Each leg still exercises its own skill — reaction speed and impulse control, rapid number sense, and visual working memory — but Marathon is the only place all three land on a single, comparable number.

Why Marathon has no lives

Every other mini-game ends on three lost lives, so a struggling run is over in under a minute while a strong run keeps going — the players who most want the practice get the least of it. Marathon removes the ejection: a mistake subtracts points, but play continues to the leg's end.

That makes every run the same length regardless of how sharp you are that day, and it means the end screen can name your strongest leg and the one with the most room to gain — not just whichever leg you happened to survive.

How to play

Marathon takes three steps to learn. Clear Misfire's 60-second reaction leg, clear Swarm's 60-second estimation leg, then clear Glow Grid's 8-round memory leg. The three leg scores add together the moment the last leg ends.

  1. Leg 1 — Misfire.
Tap the right targets, freeze on the traps, for 60 seconds.
  2. Leg 2 — Swarm.
Pick the larger swarm at a glance, for 60 seconds.
  3. Leg 3 — Glow Grid.
Watch the lights, tap them back, for 8 rounds.

Daily or Endless

Daily plays the same three legs as everyone else that day, once per day, ranked on a shared Brain Score board. Endless is unlimited replays with freshly random legs on every run, ranked on its own all-time board — practice as many times as you want.

Daily

One shared run per day. Same legs for every player, so the leaderboard is a fair head-to-head.

Endless

Unlimited replays, fresh random legs each time, chasing your own all-time best.

Want just one skill?

Glow Grid isolates the working-memory leg on its own, at your own pace.

Yes. Marathon is free with a NeuralRun account, and its rules stay free forever.

What does Marathon train?

Marathon runs Misfire, Swarm and Glow Grid back to back, so one run exercises reaction speed and impulse control, number sense, and visual working memory, and combines all three into a single Brain Score.

Why does Marathon have no lives?
